Creative color designs for product packaging
Abstract
This demo showcases our recent work on assisting CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) companies with their product packaging designs by providing color palettes that are visually appealing, novel and consistent with targeted brand messages. Specifically, we start by mining a large collections of images of different products and brands to learn about colors and color combinations that frequently appear among them. Then for given brand, product and particular marketing messages, we apply the mined color knowledge, along with a color message graph that exploits both color psychology principles and Thesaurus data, to generate quintillions of potential color designs. Metrics such as visual aesthetics and novelty are then used to prune the initial design sets, which returns a top list to guide human designers to complete the final design.
