Characterization of INCONEL alloy MA 6000 powder
Abstract
Mechanically alloyed powders of INCONEL* alloy MA 6000 have been characterized in order to understand the mechanical alloying process. Various analytical techniques including transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, electron microprobe analysis, and Auger electron spectroscopy were used to reveal the microstructural changes, chemical homogeneity, degree of mechanical working, and surface chemistry of powders during the powder processing. The current investigation has brought about a better understanding of the basic mechanism of the mechanical alloying process as well as a guideline for quality control of mechanically alloyed powder. © 1987 The Metallurgical of Society of AIME.
