Causes in Clinical Trials Failure of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD): An Artificial Intelligence-assisted review

Abstract

Number of clinical trials for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) therapies has steadily increased over the past few decades, however, with high rate of failures. Information regarding causes of failures has been minimal. We hypothesize poor recruitment of participants is the leading cause of trial failure. To test this hypothesis, we conducted an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted review of IBD clinical trials over the past three decades to identify the major factors leading to trial failures.
