Arc sealing seems to be a practical method for sealing in stems and bulbs of certain configurations and glass types. It offers the advantage of reduced contamination and heating effects. The principal disadvantage of this technique is that high voltage must be used and, consequently, precautions must be observed against the shock hazard associated with high voltage.
