Application of the area theorem to phonon echoes

The area theorem of self-induced transparency is used to calculate the dependence of photon echo intensities in ruby on Cr3+ concentration. The result is in quantitative agreement with measurements reported by Compaan and Abella, and, therefore, it is not necessary to invoki super radiant dampling to explain their data. © 1971.
