Abstract
For a multiple-segment ffight of passenger aircraft, air cargo load planning is the trade-off between operation time, mishandling ratio, and load factor. A rule-based optimization approach is adopted by us to model the complex business logic. In the load planning, there are several atomic actions, which is relatively stable and linked together by rule flow. This paper discusses the optimization algorithms behind these actions. The system has been successfully applied in a North American airline company. ©2008 IEEE.
