Absolute orientation of water molecules at the neat water surface
Abstract
The technique of second harmonic generation is employed to infer the net orientation of water at the neat liquid surface by a measurement of the absolute phase of the surface nonlinear susceptibility. The temperature dependence of the second harmonic signal is measured in order to determine the dipole contribution to the total susceptibility. © 1988 American Chemical Society.
