A form of bulk silicon consisting of "magic" clusters
Abstract
The interaction of neighboring Si4 clusters were studied theoretically and experimentally. The potential-energy surface of two Si clusters was calculated and a barrier against fusion was found. The results showed that no tendency to form larger islands of bulk Si was observed for clusters at sufficiently low temperature.
