Bio

Since late 2023 Kim has been Senior Manager of the IBM Semiconductor Equipment engineering, tooling, and capital strategy teams. Her team drives the specification, design and installation of leading-edge semiconductor process and measurement tools to support IBM and partner technology development and the entire Albany Ecosystem. The team also drives daily operational excellence via its line support and service contract mission to support overall CSR fab operations working with NYCREATEs and key suppliers. Her background in both semiconductor operations and finance have her leading semiconductor capital planning and execution to drive expansion of the Albany site and mission. From 2018 to 2023 she managed the Industrial Engineering and Operations teams in Albany. Responsible for all IT infrastructure, industrial engineering, and production control functions driving the workflow in the Albany research line. Since 2006 she has been a member of the Center for Semiconductor Research (CSR) Operations team with a focus on growing the impact and capacity of the fabrication line to achieve critical advanced technology milestones for IBM Research and its alliance partners. In her role of Senior Industrial Engineer she has led many cross-functional teams to improve fab metrics, cycles of learning, and achieve overall operational performance objectives. She has a deep knowledge of calculating performance metrics, developing operational models, capacity planning, and the implementation of business procedures to enable improved results. Prior to joining the operations team in Albany she also spent several years in the Semiconductor Products organization developing skills in financial planning, revenue management, and strategic planning for the Foundry and ASIC product lines. She started her career with IBM Microelectronics in 2001 working in the Equipment Engineering group in Burlington VT where she developed chemical processes for parts cleaning to reduce cost of ownership in the fab. Kim holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University (2001) and a MS in Management of Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2004).
