Jaime H. Moreno is Distinguished Researcher, Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure department, at IBM Research. This department addresses challenges and innovations in hardware and systems co-design for Cloud systems infrastructure, with emphasys on security, isolation and performance issues.
Previously, Jaime was Senior Manager in the Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure department; before that, he was Senior Manager in the Data Centric Systems department at IBM Research, where he and his team were focused on applications, hardware and systems co-design for high-performance systems, with emphasys on the IBM supercomputers represented by the Summit and Sierra systems, which have been the two most powerful supercomputers in the world since their introduction.
Priorly, he was Worldwide Technology and Operations Manager, Computing as a Service, at IBM Research, responsible of operations management for an organization with a broad range of technical disciplines. Before that, he was Senior Manager, Microprocessor Architecture, at IBM Research, in charge of a team performing research on processor architecture and microarchitecture, and optimizing compiler technology. He also was Research Relationship Manager with academic institutions, and Co-PI for a DOE-sponsored research program.
He joined the IBM Research Division in 1992, where he has performed research on a variety of microprocessor architecture and performance analysis topics, including high-end server microprocessors, game processors, low-power embedded processors and digital signal processors, efforts addressing the full range of IBM processors and systems.
In addition to multiple publications in journals and conferences, Jaime is coauthor of the books 'Introduction to Digital Systems' (Wiley, 1999) and 'Matrix Computations on Systolic-Type Arrays (Kluwer, 1992). He holds 17 patents in processor architecture, has been recognized as Master Inventor at IBM Research, and was a member of the IBM Academy of Technology.
Before joining IBM Research, Jaime was a faculty member at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Concepcion, Chile. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from the University of California Los Angeles, and a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Concepcion, Chile.
