The Automatic Parcel Sorting System decodes addresses from a grayscale image. The image is captured by a high resolution camera located above the parcel, while it travels on a conveyor.
The decoding process is composed of the following main steps:
- Image Acquisition (up to 40 Mbytes)
- Find Regions Of Interest (ROIs)
- Address Block Location (ABL) within ROIs
- OCR
- Postal dictionary lookup
