Biography

Alex Sorin Alex Sorin received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the Oil & Gas Technology Institute, Moscow, USSR in 1977 and 1979 respectively. He worked in the Geophysical Research Center in Moscow from 1979 to 1988. He joined IBM Haifa Research Labs in 1988. His research interests over the years have been in the areas of digital processing of seismic signals, document imaging, and optical character recognition and speech processing. His current activity is the development of a standard in the area of distributed speech recognition.
